Cold War Kids : La Divine Album chose two of the goofiest photos of mine to add to their newest album, and I couldn't have been more pleased with their humorous and rad choices. For starters, I didn't know my photos were going to be on their album. Dan Monick actually shot their entire album, and they chose images that happened to be mine. I get "Additional Photographer" as an accidental and sweet credit!
Sometime last year, shortly after the death of our beloved Prince, Showboat Gallery put up a beautiful tribute to Prince, "When Doves Cry" Theme. It was an epic night with a spectacular makeshift set: a bathtub, floating doves, fog, more fog, and fuschia colored gels. I had briefly met Carmen Electra and hardly interacted with her as I sat in the bathtub for what seemed like hours and while I watched her fill up her phone with selfies in the same corner. To be honest, I could never do that, but seeing someone have this much of a commitment to their image, makes me kind of respect them. I walked up to her and asked "Yo Carmen, Can I take a photo of you, taking a photo of yourself?" and she replied, "Go for it..." tossed her hair and arched her back to pose for both her phone and the 35mm film camera I found at the hip of a table. This photo and another one that I took of Dan laying in bed with a framed Giraffe photo is now in the Cold War Kids Album. Go get one now. Enjoy. http://www.coldwarkids.com/
